Hi everyone.  Dr. Chou here with some great news for everyone.  I just toured the GB Sciences grow facility, possibly one of the only clinical physicians in the entire state of Louisiana to be given this opportunity.

I’d like to share some of what I saw with you all, and give you some idea of the scale of operations that this facility will eventually operate at.  Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed, so I don’t have any pictures to attach.

Introduction

The facility is huge.  It’s an old beverage distribution facility that has now been repurposed for the growing and processing of medical cannabis.  I had the chance to talk with the Vice President of GB Sciences of Louisiana, as well as the Director of Growing and Head Grower.  Everyone was extremely knowledgable about the task at hand.

Exterior Pod

This is the area that has been in the news and is currently the section of the facility that is actually growing and processing the cannabis.  It’s sort of the whole facility in miniature.  The cannabis that was grown in the exterior pod has currently been harvested, and is drying.

It was a truly exciting moment to be able to peek into the exterior pod and see that things are moving along exactly as described.  Rows of cannabis were hanging and drying, guarded by a off-duty Baton Rouge police officer.

The next step is for the cannabis to be processed and bottled into a final product, which will then be shipped to the dispensaries

Production Plans

They have many different strains that they are growing for their various effects.  GB Sciences will, using these various strains, create 6 different tinctures that will be sold as a finished product with 100mg of cannabinoids in a 30cc bottle.

Future Plans

As I mentioned earlier, the facility is designed to allow the entire production process, from start to finish, to occur in one facility.  The facility is huge.  I was told that one room of the finished facility is able to produce 3.5 times what they are able to produce in the exterior pod, and there are many such rooms planned for the full facility.

The facility is truly a sight to behold.  State of the art water filtration systems to eliminate contaminants and pesticides, sophisticated grow rooms with humidity, temperature, and lighting control, and cannabis that’s been carefully selected for consistency and medical benefit.

Summary

It’s one thing to hear about this in the news.  It’s another thing completely to see this up close, and realize that this product is so close to being in the hands of the patients that need it.

I know that so many of you have been patiently waiting for this moment, but I can feel it deep down that this will happen, to the benefit of many.
