Introduction

It’s Dr. Victor Chou with the Medical Marijuana Clinic of Louisiana and I have some exciting news regarding the Louisiana Medical Marijuana Program.

Let’s jump right in.

Product Release

While there is no specific release date set, LSU/GBSL representative John Davis confirmed that “Product is Right Around the Corner.”

Formulations

Three initial formulations will be provided.  These will all be tinctures in a 30cc (one ounce) bottle.

  • CBD Rich – 1200mg CBD and 60mg THC
  • THC Rich – 300mg THC
  • Balanced – 150mg CBD and 150mg CBD

Price

Nothing official about the retail price but I am hearing rumors of anywhere from $100 to $200 per bottle.

Keep in mind these prices are what I’ve heard from non-official sources.  However, I do feel the eventual retail price will fall within these ranges.

One piece of good news is that sales tax will not be collected on medical marijuana, which should save a patient around $10 to $20 per month.

Dispensaries

7 of the 9 dispensaries have received their permits and may begin operations soon.

The two that have not are Alexandria and Monroe, but I fully expect they will be operational when the product is released.

Because all dispensaries will receive product at the same time and open at the same time, there is no advantage or disadvantage based on when or where your recommendation is submitted.

Recommendations

We have already submitted recommendations for our patients using Green Leaf Dispensary in Houma.

We are beginning to submit recommendations for our patients using Willow Dispensary in Madisonville.  We should be completed by the end of the week.

We will continue to work with every dispensary around the state and start submitting recommendations when they begin accepting them.

As we stated above, because all dispensaries will receive product at the same time and open at the same time, there is no advantage or disadvantage based on when or where your recommendation is submitted.

Summary

Thanks to everyone for reading and I’ll keep you posted on any new developments as they happen.
