Hello there. Thank you for reading our article and watching our video comparing the Wellcana and Ilera Inhalable Devices.
I’m Dr. Victor Chou, the founder and Medical Director of the Medical Marijuana Clinic of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.
As you know, in the past few months, both distributors of medical marijuana in Louisiana have released inhalable products.
Wellcana has released the Blinc PuffStick and Ilera has released the Pax Era Pro.
Today, we’ll discuss the pros and cons for each device and help you decide “Which One is Right for You?”
Price
There are two things you need to consider in regards to price.
First, the price of the device itself. There is a slight price different in the price of the devices, with the Wellcana device approximately $50 less than the Ilera device.
However, keep in mind that both devices are reusable and rechargeable, so in most cases, most people will only need to purchase the device one time.
The exception would be in cases where the device can only hold one cartridge at a time, and if you use different cartridges, you may have to purchase multiple devices.
Secondly, you also need to consider the price of the medical marijuana that will go into the device.
This will be a recurring purchase and the cost of the cartridges for the device need to be considered when deciding which device to purchase.
In that regard, the Wellcana cartridges do contain more medical marijuana for about the same price versus the Ilera cartridges.
Features
Some of the features you want to consider are:
Simplicity, or how easy the device will be for you to use. The cartridges for the Ilera device plug directly into the inhalable whereas the Wellcana cartridges have to be poured into the device.
Some patients have mentioned it is a little challenging to pour the medical marijuana into the Wellcana device.
Functionality, or how much you can do with the device. Some patients want a very simple device that they can take inhalations from. That would be the Wellcana product.
On the other hand, some patients want more advanced features, such as the ability to control their device with their smartphone, lock the device, control the amount of product used, or set a vaporization temperature. These patient should look more toward the Ilera device.
Strains
Finally, a patient should consider what strains they would envision using with their device.
If you are a patient who is currently using Wellcana tinctures or distillates, than the Wellcana inhaler will use products in their ecosystem that you already are familiar with.
The Wellcana device currently supports two strains: Jenny Kush and Bruce Banner.
However, the Ilera device currently supports four different strains : Super Sour Diesel, Granddaddy Purple, Mimosa, and Freedom.
So the Ilera device has a larger number of strains and a more diverse strain selection.
